Details from my kinswoman:

Two Ravens Kindred is hosting our annual blot to honor the disir on Saturday, April 25, 2009.

We’re going to gather at any time after 2:00 PM, with discussion around 5:00, followed by “the usual” – blot, feast, sumble.

Please bring:

1) Mementos, photographs, etc of your female ancestors for the altar (these will NOT be sacrificed!)

2) Stories to share (although we will have good “lore discussion” on the disir and disir worship this time, stories still rock!)

3) A Feast Contribution – and, if you have a “family recipe” or something your mom, grandma, or aunties always served, that’s best.

4) Anything you specifically want to drink, alcoholic or otherwise

5) Lawn chairs, if you have ‘em, so we don’t run short J

RSVP for directions and feast planning to this Meetup [unless you already know her, in which case it's perfectly fine to RSVP directly to her.]

Please feel free to invite your kindred, significant others, and etc. Our “general rule” is that someone in Two Ravens Kindred needs to meet any new people beforehand; so definitely email one of us if someone new is coming, so we can plot a coffee meet, or something ;)

Hope to see you here!

This blot (ritual) is to honor the Disir (our female ancestors).

We value diversity and love meeting new people of stripes! However, because this is a private home, our "vouchsafe" policy is in effect for first time guests. That simply means a kindred member needs to meet you somewhere public for a brief, friendly chat over a cup of coffee. Just a good vibes check... no big thing. :)

    •  Always great to spend time with my kinswoman Patty and her husband Eric, as well as other good folk from around the community. There were several late cancellations due to "life getting in the way" so turnout was a bit smaller expected. Still, all present enjoyed a companionable afternoon on a wonderfully warm spring day, a memorable ritual as day turned to evening, and a hearty feast with more good fellowship afterward. The honoring of our female ancestors was well done and I was moved towards the close of the ritual by the twilight tableau of Patty, Sandi, and Stacey pausing at the garden fountain, not unlike the three Norns at the Well of Wyrd. * * * "I've got my mother's eyes and my father's stride grandmother's smile, grandfather's pride I am all of them and a little more... I am my kin gone on before." - Jon Cyr, 'Ancestor Song' Hail the Ancestors!
